Our Senior Hunger Programs help sustain hundreds of seniors in Central California. With the guidance of an on-staff registered dietician, we have been able to curate heart-healthy food boxes to accommodate age-related health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
Seniors Are in Need
Older adults (over the age of 60) make up 16.5% of Fresno Countyโs population. Often, they face major barriers to accessing our programs including language, transportation, technology, and increased nutritional needs due to diet-related conditions. Through our Senior Hunger Initiative, we partner with three community organizations to serve over 270 food-insecure seniors each month. Whether delivering meal boxes to our neighbors or providing them with one after their nutrition education class, each organization takes a unique approach to distributing these meals into our community and supporting our seniors.
